Eighth International Conference on Flood Management (ICFM 8)

"Lowering Risk by Increasing Resilience"

The University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa, USA
August 17 - 19, 2020

NSF-sponsored opportunity for supporting Young Investigator participation to ICFM8.

The goal of this award is to expose graduate students and young investigators to the most recent advancements in the cross-disciplinary sciences supporting flood research and decision-making. We are confident that by bringing more young investigators to ICFM8, we can offer them a unique opportunity to learn about the field, to interact, and learn from established international researchers. We hope to better prepare a new generation of professionals to engage in global flood mitigation research; an area of critical societal need in a rapidly changing world.

This NSF award aims to attract a record number of young professionals to the ICFM8 conference ( The NSF funding targets Graduate Students and Postdoctoral Scholars from academic institutions that have national visibility in flood mitigation research and practice. While the awards are merit-based, we encourage participation of underrepresented minority (URM) students and young researchers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines.

The NSF funds will be used for travel and lodging for 15 graduate students and will waive the registration fees for 35 students and postdoctoral investigators attending the conference.
Applications from interested applicants may be submitted between December 1, 2019 and January 20, 2020.
Submission of applications for this NSF award will be made here.
